Ing. arch. Martin Jan Rosa

I was born on April 3, 1981 in Nový Jičín.

From 1992 to 1999, I attended a seven-year grammar school in Nový Jičín.

Between 1999 and 2002, I studied Industrial Design in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. I ended this study after successfully passing the entrance exams to the Faculty of Architecture at the end of my third year.

From 2002 to 2008, I studied at the Faculty of Architecture, Brno University of Technology. I successfully completed my studies by defending my bachelor's thesis "New Zbrojovka - Design of a Residential Block" under the supervision of doc. ing. arch. Petr Pelčák.

During my university studies, from 2000 to 2003, I worked part-time at SIEMENS s.r.o., Information and Communication Networks (ICN) division, where I gained experience in identifying business opportunities and caring for corporate customers as an assistant in the sales department.

As early as during my first year of study at the Faculty of Architecture, I began working on the design and implementation of interiors for Progeon, s.r.o. (now Infosys, s.r.o.). This led to more than three years of collaboration (2002-2005) in an international environment. I was responsible for the design and implementation of complete interiors, including the detailed design of entirely atypical furniture, finding suppliers, and office management. I collaborated in finding new spaces for the company's expansion into the Brno Spielberk Office Center, where I subsequently designed the interior of the entire office building. In addition to this continuous activity, I gained further practical experience during my studies by collaborating with other design offices.

At the end of 2002, I began collaborating on the archiweb.cz architectural web portal project. From 2005 to 2009, I worked there full-time as an editor and business manager. I was responsible for communication with Czech and foreign studios and institutions, and for project financing, which involved contacts with advertisers from major construction companies. As part of my editorial work, I regularly contributed my own texts to the portal, including reports from my visits to several major architectural conferences around the world.

Shortly after graduating, together with ing. arch. Jan Kratochvíl, we won the Petr Parléř Award 2008 for the competition design of the revitalization of the municipal cemetery in Vítkov. I managed to follow up on this success in collaboration with ing. arch. Kamil Mrva, winning third place in the following year's Petr Parléř Award 2009 with a competition design for the revitalization of the upper courtyard of Štramberk Castle, and again the main Petr Parléř Award for 2013 for the design of Budovatelů Square in Sokolov.

From 2009 to 2016, I worked as an architect at Kamil Mrva Architects in Kopřivnice. I was usually in charge of projects from design, through all phases of project documentation, to supervision of implementation. The studio's typical commissions were individual family houses, groups of family houses, and smaller apartment buildings, but thanks to invited competitions, I also collaborated on designs for larger urban areas. Many of the projects I co-authored were published in architecture yearbooks and media, and some were awarded.

As part of Kamil Mrva Architects, from 2012 to 2016, I led an independent branch in Prague and was fully responsible for a portion of the studio's clientele.

Since April 2016, I have been working as a freelance architect and consultant. I work on commissions either independently or in collaboration with other architects and organizations. Between 2016 and 2020, ing. arch. Alice Svobodová collaborated with me on most commissions.

In November 2017, I completed an expert course in designing passive and zero-energy houses, organized by the Passive House Center.

In 2021, I completed the GRAPHISOFT Certified BIM Manager Training Program. This course focused on very advanced techniques of working with Archicad and information management using the BIM method. In addition to obtaining the highest Archicad certification, I have access to a community of the most experienced Archicad users and BIM consultants. In 2023, I completed an update program and extended the certification for another two-year period.

In June 2021, I obtained the BuildingSmart Professional Certification - Foundation Basic. The following year, I participated in the preparation of this certification program in the Czech Republic by preparing a training course at Construsoft.

From September 2022 to the end of 2023, I collaborated with BIM Consulting. Here, I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of information management according to international standards and my experience as an active designer in the role of BIM consultant, coordinator, and manager on various projects for both clients and contractors.
